Life Expansion Begins Now

Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage. - Ana├»s Nin, Diary, 1969

Fear sometimes has a way of keeping us confused and unsure of which direction to take.  Sometimes, as we gain confidence we take a step out only to turn and retreat back into our safety zone.

This little duck reminded me the other day of what being brave and courageous is all about.  It seemed to fear little as it led its brothers and sisters to and from the pond time and time again.  The courageousness it must have felt surprised me as I knelt very near to its family.

The fearlessness this baby duck possessed has stayed with me for several days now.  It's helped me to recognize how timid I've been living, for a variety of reasons.  It has also helped me to realize that I need to flex my Faith muscles in terms of my own courageousness.  It's time to step out and further expand the horizons in my own life. It's time to live life fully - bravely even.  It's time to live.

  1. What adorable little ducks. It is amazing how much courage baby animals have, I think thats because they are not taught to be fearful like us humans.
    Faith conquers many things.

  2. Many of us don't realize this till it's too late, or do realize it, but still cannot take those first few steps. We are creatures of habit and routine and don't want to change. I'm glad you are stepping out and looking up. You are also looking around, as I can see from the wonders you find and share with us. Many blessings.

  6. Those Faith muscles need to be worked out just like our body's muscles do. They must be stretched, and strained just enough to strengthen them but without going beyond what we can bear. So glad we have the best personal trainer there is.

Glad you're stepping out. Me too. :)

  9. Spread you wings and soar with the eagles baby! These little ducklings remind me of first brood of bluebirds outside my bedroom window this morning. The babies are big enough to poke their whole head from the birdhouse. Soon mama will be pushin' the out for the next brood.

You have a marvelous Mother's Day sweetie!!!
