10 Truths about Me

We are so accustomed to disguise ourselves to others that in the end we become disguised to ourselves. - Fran├žois Duc de La Rochefoucauld

The assignment for today's Beyond Layers class is to write Ten Truths about ourselves.

So, in keeping with my commitment to be more "real,"  right now:

1.  My favorite color is pink - and has been since I was small

2.  I struggle with anxiety and constantly have to remind myself to breathe, even when doing the laundry

3.  My Dad passed away over 16 years ago and I ache to hug him tight

4.  My Mom is my ultimate best friend and I am petrified of the day she will join my Dad in Heaven

5.  I struggle with accepting who I am (damaged goods) because I keep thinking I should be better than I am

6.  I still wonder why my ex-boyfriend felt the need to lie endlessly to me and why I didn't heed that still small voice inside me when he spoke them

7.  Having a camera in my hand allows me to get lost inside myself and feel joy

8.  Blue sky and sunshine makes me grin ear to ear (it's outside my window right now)

9.  I love the beach but the trees of the mountains and the grasses of the country steal my heart and bring me peace

10.  I get teary-eyed watching my nieces growing up and becoming the incredibly beautiful young women they are.  I so wish we were closer. I love them so.

  1. I so enjoyed readin' these very 'real' things 'bout you sweetie.

Your beautiful pictures speak volumes and your joy shines through each and every one.

God bless and enjoy your day!!! :o)

  2. I am so proud of you for having the desire to be real and to be all that you can be....It takes courage to tell others things about our true self and I am glad that now I know you alittle better.....I have the same desire to be a person who is real and transparent so together we will keep working on it....

I can get lost taking pictures as well....You really have some great ones here...Keeping reaching for your dreams....

  3. I can tell that the camera brings you joy. I totally understand that feeling. I do have to wonder what I would put down if I needed to share 10 things about myself. Not sure I have the courage to be so open and honest.
    Hugs to you.

  4. Thank you for sharing these, Stacey. I still miss my parents so can understand how you feel.

  5. Stacey, I think all of us can relate to every single thing here!!

  6. it is good to share your inner thoughts and very difficult to do. glad you did share and i bet you are too. you are NOT damaged goods that is satans lie to you. God cleansed you and made you knew again. so drop that one from your list.

  7. Obviously you are growing, you are creatingyourself and find the endless possibilities that your camera has to offer.
Be the person you wish to be.
Love is unconditional and I am sure that I am not the only one to say that there is a hug for you from me.

  8. thanks for sharing your truths...i agree with sandra's comment. don't let satan take one more minute of your time...
