Nestling in Contentment

The world is full of people looking for spectacular happiness while they snub contentment. ~Doug Larson

A blog friend brought to mind this verse yesterday when I blogged about my Life list:
Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. (Philippians 4:11 KJV)
The comment really got me to thinking about the reason for creating my Life list.

After much soul searching, I came to the conclusion that I wrote my Life list to encourage me to fully live.

It's meant to gently push me out of my shell to experience first hand all of the blessings God has in store for me.  It's to allow me to be led toward the path I know God has for me.

He is my compass.  He is guide.  The items to be crossed off my Life list are totally up to Him.

The possibilities of living a life fully alive in Him are endless.

And the fun in the planning and dreaming is indescribable.

Until next time...

I'm linking up with Spiritual Sundays again this week.  Won't you join us?

  2. Well, gosh...I did NOT mean to say that you are not content with what you have, I guess I was insensitive...I was just saying the way I feel for myself and typed without thinking of how it sounded!! Everyone has to dream a bit, I just meant I don't think of it a whole lot...if we didn't have dreams, where would all the great inventions and things be now?

  3. A life list! Interesting concept. My daughter just gave me a blank book called Mom's List. Each day I am to write down a memory, bible verse, or positive thought. It has room for 5 years worth! I am keeping it next to my bed and writing something every night before I go to be. Have a blessed Spiritual Sunday! 7. there were times in my life, that the dream i was living came under the category "nightmare" and after I survived that, contentment became much easier to feel and live. one of the things i grump about is my weekly trip to the grocery store. I realized i am living a dream of being able to drive, having a car to drive, the money to pay for the gas and the food for the week. so now each time i get in the car to drive their i thank God for each of these things. most of the time I am content until the "guilt card" flings itself down in my mind...

  9. Your post made me think of a baby chick coming out of its shell - aren't we all like that - finding ways to get out of our shell - and find the more He has in store for us? I can't wait to see your life list!!!

  12. I love your quote. And yes, making a list to remind you to fully live. Otherwise we wander around and life is lived without a purpose -- looking for spectacular happiness. Contentment was my "word" one year. It's so important for us to become what God has planned.

  14. Its hard to give thanks for everything yet there is something in it all that is good and can be put to use in life in one way or another. Yours was put here. Thank you for that. Wishing you a great week ahead.
