Book Review: You're Already Amazing

"You don't have to do more, be more, have more." - Holley Gerth, You're Already Amazing

Have you ever read something that made you think someone had crept into your mind while you were sleeping, stole your thoughts and put them on paper for you to literally see?

I felt that way after reading the first page of You're Already Amazing by Holley Gerth.

The theme in this book seems to match my theme for this entire year: accepting myself as I am, the very way God made for me to be.

I have thought for many years that I needed to change and improve myself, be better, do more, and seriously mess up much less.

I just knew I had to be perfect all the while being fully aware it is humanly impossible to do so.

Holley's book helped me see, acknowledge and realize that I am not alone in my thoughts or feelings. She also generously helped me with my understanding that I have my "own race to run" and that it's okay for me to do so.

I haven't fully embraced all that I am - yet. However, I am a great deal further than I was before I read this book.

If you struggle with perfectionism and with accepting who you are at your core being, I encourage you to read this book. You may find it here.

Holley writes in a very real way that is so easy to relate to. The Bible verses she uses to prove her points hit the proverbial nails right smack on their heads.

A dare is offered at the beginning of this book. A dare that I second: read this book and truly begin to embrace all of who you are and who God created you to be.

Thank you, Holley, for writing such an amazing and encouraging book.

And, thank you to Revell Publishing Group for sending me this book for free in exchange for reading and reviewing it.

Until next time... Go! Run your own race!

  2. The book sounds interesting. as for being perfect,I am soooo far from that, and I know it. Who I want to be is just who God wants me to be.As long as I live that os what I strive for.

  8. Read your post before and decided to stroll down to the next one. And then...you got me into tears. Heartbreaking sobbing tears. I'm facing this wall the last couple of months and that wall has my name all over it. So yes yes I will be ordering this book asap and dive into it. Find my own road again.

Thank you so so much my dearest friend. My heart goes out to you, longing for a nice long talk. I might give you a ring one of these days. Love Dagmar
