Ray of Beauties

Flowers... are a proud assertion that a ray of beauty out values all the utilities of the world. - Ralph Waldo Emerson, 1844

I feel like this post is an eye test:

"Which is better?

One.
Or, two.

One.
Or, twooo."

The first image is an assignment from my Beyond Layers class.  We were supposed to create a vintage pastel image and use a specific texture.

I like it, however I think I like the pop of color in the second better.

It's all a matter of preference, isn't it?  It's probably a matter of health and level of worry today, too.

My head is banging, cough is whooping, and my lungs are constricting in a not good way.  My Mom is suffering with severe unexplained pain.  My grandmother's struggling to breathe and in the process of finding a quick route to a nursing home.  And, the glorious sunshine we had has now turned to gray liquid.

Yet through it all, God is good.  He gave me blossoms to enjoy.  He gave me friends to call and lean on.  He gave me blog friends near and far to ask to please pray for my family.  We could really use the prayers.

Thank you all!

  1. You and the family are in my prayers. My choice would be picture number two.

  2. Oh Stacey, I am so very sorry!!! I like the second one best. Next to it, the first one seems pale and washed out.

  6. Oh Stacey, I will pray for you and your family. It seems like our mild winter has caused us to have horrible coughs and colds this spring. I hope you feel better soon. PS I like the second photo a bit more.

  7. As much as I love textured images, I have to agree with you on this one that number twoooo is my preference. Hope you and yours get feeling better soon.

  8. Best thoughts to you and your family, SD. I hope everyone is feeling better before too long.

I think textures are fun to play around with from time to time, but the closer an image is to the natural view, the more I like it. So, it's number two for me.

  10. Hi Stacey, I came across your blog as I like to search every now and again for other fellow Nature Photographers. I thought I would leave a comment and let you know I too like the second image the best. :) I also hope that things with your family start getting better!
