Dare to Risk

To dare is to lose one's footing momentarily.  To not dare is to lose oneself.  -Soren Kierkegaard

Today's Five Minute Friday prompt is:  Risk.

The things that come to mind are:

and then...

I'm nearing a big reflection day for me.  It's a day when I look back at the past year of my life to see where I've been, what I've accomplished and how far I've come. It's also a day when I evaluate where I'd like to be in another year.

Yesterday I began to beat myself up with words because I hadn't accomplished all that I had wanted to in the past year.  A friend, who was sitting in my living room at the time, stopped me and reminded me of some of the very hard things I faced.

I needed that friendly reminder desperately.  I am still not where I want to be in my life however, I am so not where I was.  By the grace of God, with his gifts to me of friends (angels) who have come alongside to support me when needed... I've succeeded and reaped such joyous rewards of friendship and love.

Risking to help someone became a great joy that broadened my world exponentially. I thank and praise God for that!

Linking up with Five Minute Fridays.

PS:  Image is of a drying Peony bloom.  Edited with Kim Klassen's Fully.  I know, it's a risk to post this here as I don't think it's a very pretty image - but it fit with the subject today!

  1. A very creative photo to accompany your thoughts. Blessings as you continue to risk and explore.

  2. can't figure why you say it is not pretty, i think it is gorgeous.

  3. It does indeed ft today's post! your lists are bad , then good. and the picture has both pretty and not pretty. Forward is always better, it doesn't matter how much.

  4. I'm not very good with 'risk'. I'm a kind of 'both feet on the ground', take the safe path kind of a gall. ;)
Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!

  5. all those saints seemed to take risks...and the Bible tells us over and over "be not afraid."

  6. Risk is scary but if we don't risk we go backwards.
    Backwards isn't healing.
Love your vulnerable posts. I like how you are moving forward and growing stronger each and every day.
