Why I Write

The role of a writer is not to say what we all can say, but what we are unable to say.  - Anaïs Nin

I write because I can type faster than my thoughts can be processed in my mind.

I write because I can then see the words, hear the sound of them coming back at me through my ears and then decipher my feelings in a safer and more productive way.

I write because I'm a very expressionistic person and I believe the written word to be beautiful especially when written to express love or concern or kindness.

Words are treasures.

Some people are able to share their words more easily than others.

I can share my words a little too easily at times and at others not easily enough.

I write to be known.  I write to stay anonymous.  I write to be daring.  I write to stay safe.  I write simply because I want to write.  I write because I feel called by God to do so.  I write because somewhere deep inside is my story that needs to be shared so that it can show the world how Christ has worked miracles in me.

Linking up with Lisa Jo today for Five Minute Friday.  The rules are basically to just spew forth for five minutes on a writing prompt she gives us.  Her prompt today was:  write.

Five Minute Friday

  1. Found your blog through 5 minute friday!

You said, "Words are treasures"...so true!! I said the same thing in my post. How sweet words others have written -- in encouraging notes, texts, love notes, etc, I treasure and save and reread them. Words have such power to encourage and relate to others!

And...your words encouraged me today, keep on writing!

  2. writing is good for you because you are a writer and write you did for five whole minutes... something i find it very hard to do.i can't just sit down and write. i have to wait until an idea POPS.. then i jump up and write it down... then pick at it for a few days.

  3. Powerful words here: "I write to be known. I write to stay anonymous. I write to be daring. I write to stay safe. I write simply because I want to write. I write because I feel called by God to do so. I write because somewhere deep inside is my story that needs to be shared so that it can show the world how Christ has worked miracles in me."
