Summer Living

Dream as if you'll live forever. Live as if you'll die today. ~James Dean

I got myself to live a little this past Summer.

A friend and I discovered this quaintly cute cafe that overlooked the Puget Sound.  (Doogie got to visit once, too.)

This little place hosted "Open Mic" night each week.

And, oh.  It was LOVELY!!!

It was my bliss for the Summer.

Blue skies.
Warm sunshine.
Iced decaf rice milk mochas with gluten/dairy/soy free cookies.
Loud music (mostly original) and soft poetry.
Beautiful flowers and rose scents.
Laughter.
Chatter.
Birds tweeting.
Hands clapping and toes tapping.
And, perhaps a bit of dancing in a chair...

I'm sighing now wishing for a time machine to take me back to just one more night there.

It's where I felt carefree and alive for a short but wonderful time.

I did something different.  I pushed myself outside of my comfort zone and LIVED..... just a little.

Next year, in nine short months, I might even LIVE a little more with a mic in my own hand.

We'll see....
Yes, we shall see.

(But don't go holding your breath!)

    1. Oh Sandra - you should do it! There are voices of all kinds out there.... and it's fabulous to watch the light in their eyes as they get the courage to do something afraid. I love it. I do hope to participate and not just watch next year!! And even if I don't grab the mic - I'll still be dancing in my chair!! ;)

  2. Summer Living....I love it too.
Sweet picture of your Doogie and I love your expression of freedom.
I do hope you don't have to wait 9 whole months to feel that freedom again.
I find it fascinating how the Lord encourages and pushes us along to get closer to the person He created and truly wants us to be.
