Giving Thanks for more Little Things

As I lay here in my "sick" bed I thought it prudent to write down a few of the little things I'm most grateful for:

  • Autumn Leaves that still fall from trees
  • Dancing in the Rain
  • Holding hands with the one I love
  • Sharing a joke with my mom
  • Reminiscing ... down memory lane ... while browsing old pictures from long (LONG) ago
  • Hearing Doogie breathe peacefully next to me
  • My old fashioned looking pink rose covered clock ticking
  • The sound of traffic zipping by so early in the morning
  • My phone ringing with a concerned voice on the other end checking up on me
  • An invite to a Thanksgiving crowd
  • Heart ache at missing my Dad's laughter for the 18th year
  • My heating pad that shuts itself off automatically
  • Photos
  • Love notes
  • Smiles
  • Tear drops
  • Heart to heart talks
  • Hugs
  • A mother who STILL removes skin from fish/chicken (thanks Mom!)
  • A boyfriend who peels oranges for her so her hands don't get sticky (thank you!)
  • The knowledge of having three nieces growing up so beautifully
  • Missing my brother
  • The color pink
  • Cozy pajamas with coordinating bathrobe
  • My bathtub draining properly
  • Cold running water from the tap
  • Four Hummingbirds feeding outside my door
  • Sparkles in my "welcome" mat
  • Friends' phone numbers that pop up on my caller ID
  • Shared prayers
  • Like-minded hobbyist friends and believers
  • Being able to walk on two legs
  • Breathing - even shallowly
  • Ten fingers and ten toes on my own body
  • Scars - my proof of much healing
  • Kindness
  • Doors being held open for me
  • The garbage being taken out for me
  • A sip of vanilla coffee
  • Having doctors who will stay late for you when their schedule is packed full
  • Quiet moments with God in the stillness of the night
  • My Mom who proofreads my posts for me and tells me what needs to be corrected (love you!)

I could go on and on..... there are so many little things that really aren't little things.

They are tiny gestures or moments that burst into gigantic gifts that bring warmth to my heart, a smile to my face, a tear to my eye, a laugh to my belly and a love in my soul.

Thanksgiving, here in the United States, is two days away and I can't stop finding "little" things to be thankful for.

Want to share some more "little things" you are thankful for?

I'll catch you on the other side of a click.... very soon.  And oh!  By the way, I will be writing a book review on a Christmas story and offering a giveaway for a free copy.  It's a hardback Christmas story that will warm your heart!

PS:  A quote for today....one I identify with in so many ways:

I am often accused of being childish.  I prefer to interpret that as child-like.  I still get wildly enthusiastic about little things.  I tend to exaggerate and fantasize and embellish.  I still listen to instinctual urges.  I play with leaves.  I skip down the street and run against the wind.  I never water my garden without soaking myself.  It has been after such times of joy that I have achieved my greatest creativity and produced my best work. ~Leo F.
