Five Minute Friday: Good

Today's Five Minute Friday Prompt is Good.

Goodness.
Good grief.
Good morning, good evening and good night.
Good deals.
Great expectations.

Good for you.
Good for me.

Hip Hip Hooray.

A smattering of words flood my mind after reading the prompt "good."

It's Good Friday and the only good thing I can say about today is that my Lord died today (many years ago) to save me from my sins.

And sin - I have.  I'm riddled with it.  And, I'm ashamed by it.

The good news is that Christ came to save me from myself... from my sin.

And although picturing what He went through for me and because of me rips at my soul, I thank Him.
I thank Him because He is good.

God is good all the time and all the time God is good.

My pastor repeats the above statement often and even when I don't hear the words, they ring and resonate in my head even when I do not feel the truth of those words.

It's a trust thing..... trusting that God is good...

Trusting that God knows best for me and my life....
Trusting that He has a plan for my existence on this earth....
Trusting that He knows where I am at in life that He is with me always, no matter what.

Good.

Today is Good because Christ is alive and well and living in me.

Today is Good because Christ rose from the dead three days after "Good Friday."

Today is Good because it reminds me that one day I will be home, with Him in Heaven, because I have accepted Him as my Lord and Savior.

I believe He was crucified, dead and buried for my sins (and yours) and that He was then raised to life and ascended into Heaven.

Some time very soon I know He will come back to earth and He will take me (and all of us who have been Born again in Christ) home to Heaven.

That is good.

That is goodness, mercy, grace, forgiveness, love - so much love - so much undeserved love.

Thank you, Jesus, for being so GOOD to me.

Many Blessings to you and yours this Easter weekend.
May you have a very Happy celebration of His Resurrection.

I'll catch you on the other side of a Click!

Always,

SD

  2. Hi! Visiting from FMF link up :) Your list of all the ways we use the word good without even realizing it. I think it's important to take a step back and appreciate the importance of that word and really meant it when we say it. Hope you're having a wonderful Friday!

  5. And a GOOD morning to you too.

Yes God is Good all the time, even when we don't understand and "feel" it.

I am so grateful for GOOD FRIDAY and that Sunday's coming.

I hate to think of where I would be without Jesus in my life.

    Beautifully written post Stacey.
